You may have heard of Jesus, and may even think that Christ is His last name, but it is not, it is His title, meaning "the Anointed One". As David was physically anointed king over Israel, so God also anointed Jesus as the Christ, the Messiah, the King of the Universe, who came to earth to set up His Kingdom here on earth, effectually colonizing this planet to be an extension of His Kingdom in Heaven, but here on earth. That is why in the Lord's prayer, Jesus prayed that "They Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven." It is God's desire that earth be like Heaven and that His Kingdom would rule here, just as it does there. This book will introduce you to these concepts so that you can understand the nature of the Christ and the Kingdom of God, and why you should make sure that the Kingdom coming to earth in your life begins with you making Jesus the Lord and King of your life.
Many people believe in the existence of God and the Holy Spirit, but still deny the deity of Christ. Consider the doctrine of the Trinity, the truth that one God exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is not three Gods; He is one God. He is not three parts, or three phases, or three modes, but three Persons.
After going through all 16 Lessons, we will understand the unity of God as existing in three distinct Persons. God is one, and that there is but one God (Deut. 6:4; 1 Kings 8:60; Isa. 44:6; Mark 12:29, 32; John 10:30). That the Father is a distinct divine Person, distinct from the Son and the Holy Spirit. That Jesus Christ was truly God, and yet was a Person distinct from the Father and the Holy Spirit. That the Holy Spirit is also a distinct divine Person.
Students will also notice that one of his titles is the King (Mark15:26, John 1:49). They will understand that Christ (God the Son) came into the world in a human body to suffer and die for our sins. He resurrected and ascended into heaven, but His Spirit still rules in the hearts of true believers (John14:16).
This book (course) helps Bible students to understand Christ as the King of the Universe who rules in Heaven, in the hearts of true believers, and who will one day rule this world after restoration of His Kingdom (Isaiah 9:6-7).
Studying these lessons helps students to notice that Christ existed before the creation of everything, and He is the King of glory and eternity as He said, "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End." Rev 22:13. Furthermore, students will understand the preeminence of Christ, that He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation since by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities- all things were created through Him and for Him and He is before all things, and in them all. Colossians 1:15-17.
This course surveys Christ and His Kingdom before the creation of the universe, His presence during the creation of everything, His purpose for coming to earth in a human body, His Kingdom in the hearts of believers, His ascending into Heaven, and His coming back for judgement and ruling. In short, we are tracing Christ's Kingdom in Heaven, Christ's Kingdom in the hearts of believers, and His future Kingdom on earth.
