The New Testament
The New Testament is a covenant of Grace, ratified by the shed blood of Jesus Christ, for the forgiveness of our sins. It supersedes the Old Testament, which was an attempt at salvation by works, which never works.
The New Testament is the second part of the Christian Bible, consisting of 27 different books, written by multiple authors, some of whom were Jesus' disciples. The New Testament begins with the four Gospel accounts in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, which all tell about how Jesus is God Himself, the Word of God made flesh, born of a virgin, who came to be the sacrificial Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. The Gospels also tell of Jesus' life, ministry, death, and resurrection, written in Koine Greek.
The New Testament then tells the birth of the Church in the book of Acts, when those who believe in Jesus received the promised gift of the Holy Spirit, which had been prophesied about in the book of Joel. Now, God could lead humanity by His Spirit, giving us the authority He gave to Jesus, and bringing about His Kingdom on this earth. Acts also follows the ministries of Peter and Paul, and how the Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ alone was brought to the nations to make salvation available to the Gentiles, as well.
It also has many epistles, which are letters to the Church, all of which teach us how to live as believers, how to walk by faith, and how God wants the Church established and organized in the earth.
Finally, the book of Revelation is about end time prophecy, the rapture of the church, the great tribulation, the white throne judgment, the wedding supper of the Lamb, the defeat of Satan, and a new heaven and a new earth.
This course gives a complete overview of the entire New Testament, from Matthew to Revelation, with important background information, history, and the purpose of each book.
